When I open up to people about my Parkinson’s – which I often do early on – one of the first things they tend to say is that I don’t look like someone with Parkinson’s. They also say that they don’t notice any issues with standing, walking or tremors. All of the above is true.Continue reading “Forgetting….”

Love me for what I am….
So today the subject of this podcast is Love Me for What I Am or Love Me for Who I Am. This is based on a song by the Carpenters, which is of course called Love Me for What I Am. So. Today I’ve had a quite a busy old day and one of theContinue reading “Love me for what I am….”
It’s the little things that matter… we are a team!
Today has been a bit of a lazy day. It is hot – for Christchurch – as our first taste of Summer begins to be felt. Yesterday, I was out reasonably early and went and played bowls with two of my club members in an interclub game. It was my first experience and was reallyContinue reading “It’s the little things that matter… we are a team!”
Being older, but am I elderly?
It’s an interesting question I think, ascertaining how the world sees us and how we view ourselves. The two viewpoints may be poles apart. Am I seen as elderly because I have grey hair? Is age or being elderly based on a number? Is 70 years of age elderly or is it 60 or 80?Continue reading “Being older, but am I elderly?”

It is difficult for me to be on the receiving end, especially when I feel unable to reciprocateContinue reading “We all need somebody to lean on…”
I pity those who support me – Podcast
This podcast is about the challenges of supporting someone with Parkinson’s. For the person with Parkinson’s themselves to know what they need is difficult enough, but being able to convey that to others can be a real challenge. On the one hand, we want to maintain independence, on the other hand we may get upsetContinue reading “I pity those who support me – Podcast”
I miss being me…
You might think that is a bit of a strange thing to say and it probably is. The me that I miss, is the me that is independent and does her own thing. The me that spur of the moment, will jump in her car and go look at Op Shops or go look aroundContinue reading “I miss being me…”
