On 15/12/20 I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and my life was to change forever. I have learned a lot about myself and I have consciously made more time for my family since the diagnosis. I have less complacency that we will always have each other and I treasure every moment with those I love.

Housie or Bingo… it’s all one and the same
I have been trying my hand at playing Housie once a fortnight with some of my bowling club friends. It is quite enjoyable, but at three hours long, I am exhausted by the end of it. Today I didn’t win any prizes big or small, but it was still quite enjoyable. Obviously more fun ifContinue reading “Housie or Bingo… it’s all one and the same”
Ducking and Diving and downright hiding… Episode 6
I don’t know why, but I have a real ‘thing’ about people thinking my current use of a walking frame is because of my Parkies. It absolutely is not. Parkies has been very well behaved and I have had zero mobility issues because of it. The current use of the walker is simply because IContinue reading “Ducking and Diving and downright hiding… Episode 6”
A wee poem for BBQ season
I hope you like it. Actually, it’s not a wee poem at all, in fact it is rather a long one, but just a little bit of fun, most of us girls could identify with this I’m sure. Party Priorities (Men vs Women) What is essential, what would you sayWill need to be done forContinue reading “A wee poem for BBQ season”
My life and other stuff…
I feel that my life is ever growing and changing. I can see how people who retire say they don’t know how they had ever had the time to work! It takes two…
Thought I would start with something different today! Yes, it takes two or three or more, whatever you have available to you. The point of this is that it will be a rarity that anyone is completely alone in this journey. Even if you don’t have a partner, or children or siblings there will beContinue reading “It takes two…”
Life is full of challenges…
I have always been someone who has had a lot of health challenges in their life. From minor to major and everything in between, I seem to have more than my fair share at times. Of course, the main health condition – and the one that spawned this Blog – is Parkinson’s. But there areContinue reading “Life is full of challenges…”
A different perspective
My lovely husband and I have just come back from a couple of days away in Akaroa. It is the first time we have tried to go away since my temporary change in mobility. We took with us a hired wheelchair and my walker I have been using for the past few months. While weContinue reading “A different perspective”
Accessible? I think not!
Just a quick one on the subject of accessibility. I had booked a session with an acupuncture therapist this week. My husband took me and the first thing we encountered was a heavy door that opened outwards. That would be difficult to open by myself. There was a sticker stating it was an accessible building.Continue reading “Accessible? I think not!”
Words are important
I know there will be changes to my body in the future. I think I am prepared for that. The thing that I am not looking forward to, is that one day my voice will change and my words both spoken and written may leave me. I have had some symptoms which apparently can beContinue reading “Words are important”
