Those of you who have been following me lately will have noticed – I am sure – that I talk a lot about playing bowls. It was my main rehab goal for both my knee surgery and my recent back surgery. Also, recently I wrote about my disastrous first singles competition in which I wasContinue reading “I’ve got my mojo back!”

Finding new ways to be – going with things not fighting against
Today I have been trying to get a podcast recording together – a poddy as we say here – and I have experienced quite a lot of technical problems with first some buzzing in the background. When I and the ‘bot’ helping me had fixed the buzz, it sounded like I was in a caveContinue reading “Finding new ways to be – going with things not fighting against”
I am the old woman – A poem
If ever there is someone I make fun of on a regular basis, it is me! I rely on my sense of humour that I don’t offend myself and hopefully therefore do not offend anyone else. Today I realised, I am an old woman. So, I wrote a poem about it. As you do! OrContinue reading “I am the old woman – A poem”
“I’ve been watching you play” A poem about bowls
Just wrote this wee poem the other day about how things are with me and bowls at the moment. Here’s the typed version and I will put a link up for the podcast, because I think poems are always better read out. Today I didn’t win any prizes big or small, but it was still quite enjoyable. Obviously more fun ifContinue reading “Housie or Bingo… it’s all one and the same”

A sense of community…
For many years now I have basically had my social supports and contacts from people I work with. A busy weekend…
After a busy week at work, I have gone into the weekend being busy as well. I have had everything from having my hair done on Friday and ordering a new set of bowls, to lunching in town with my husband on Sunday. I have worked in my greenhouse and I have played bowls. IContinue reading “A busy weekend…”
Sharing Easter with our Grandson
This weekend our grandson had a very big adventure flying down from Wellington to stay in Christchurch with us for Easter weekend. He was an ‘unaccompanied minor’ and was looked after by air crew. We were waiting for him at the airport and were greeted by a very happy young boy with a hug andContinue reading “Sharing Easter with our Grandson”
