A diagnosis of Parkinson’s may be difficult to put in a positive light, but it is something that I try to do as much as possible. The diagnosis has spurred me on to make the most of life and not to just cruise along doing the same old things. I have made a concerted effortContinue reading “Seeking the positive…”

I can pick a Parkies – do I ask?
Yesterday was a good day. My first ever Tournament playing bowls. This was the culmination of two full day coaching sessions and an opportunity to put learning into practice. This was a big day for me and I was incredibly nervous. I had the nervous wees and other things! I’m not sure exactly why IContinue reading “I can pick a Parkies – do I ask?”
A sense of community…
For many years now I have basically had my social supports and contacts from people I work with. Maybe one or two I have had the odd social contact out of work with, but mainly it is just social chat and people to share lunch with and we don’t seem to catch up outside ofContinue reading “A sense of community…”
It’s a good life, in a lovely community!
I have had a busy weekend so far. So busy, I can’t really remember what I did yesterday! Today I went and played bowls for about the fourth time and I had a really good time. As happened last weekend, I had some very good bowls and a couple of really terrible ones. At leastContinue reading “It’s a good life, in a lovely community!”
A busy weekend…
After a busy week at work, I have gone into the weekend being busy as well. I have had everything from having my hair done on Friday and ordering a new set of bowls, to lunching in town with my husband on Sunday. I have worked in my greenhouse and I have played bowls. IContinue reading “A busy weekend…”
Bowling beauties

Heavily influenced by having so many bowlers in the family I decided to give playing bowls aContinue reading “Bowling beauties”
Do unto others…
Being raised a Catholic – one very lapsed Catholic I might add – there is a prayer somewhere that goes ‘Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you’. I think that is something that we should all keep in mind as we go through life. As much as possible I tryContinue reading “Do unto others…”
A sense of community
I think more and more as I grow older, that I need a sense of community surrounding me. Particularly, now with Parkinson’s I want to be part of something that has caring at its centre. A feeling of belonging and being in a place that’s right for me and right for my husband. Living inContinue reading “A sense of community”
Making the most of life and not putting things off
Today has been an amazing day. The sun was shining, I was feeling good and I spent it with my favourite person, my husband. We have been exploring what will be our new neighbourhood and this included a lovely riverside walk. Birds were singing and the scenery was gorgeous and we both enjoyed the opportunityContinue reading “Making the most of life and not putting things off”
