On 15/12/20 I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and my life was to change forever. I have learned a lot about myself and I have consciously made more time for my family since the diagnosis. I have less complacency that we will always have each other and I treasure every moment with those I love.

I miss being me…
You might think that is a bit of a strange thing to say and it probably is. The me that I miss, is the me that is independent and does her own thing. The me that spur of the moment, will jump in her car and go look at Op Shops or go look aroundContinue reading “I miss being me…”
Christmas, ‘Loved Ones’ and my Parkies Anniversary… Podcast
I hope you enjoy this Podcast, Episode 8. Hopefully, I am starting to get the hang of it. I would love to have your comments.
‘Loved ones’ and those we miss at Christmas…
I have always disliked the term ‘loved ones’ ever since I started working as a Social Worker. Even in our own personal world, all the training in the worldContinue reading “‘Loved ones’ and those we miss at Christmas…”
Party Priorities Men vs Women – Podcast Episode 7
I thought I would share a poem I wrote recently about different perspectives of priorities when having a party. Being the season of barbeques and family gatherings, I thought this was a good fit for the ‘silly season’. I hope you enjoy it.
Housie or Bingo… it’s all one and the same
I have been trying my hand at playing Housie once a fortnight with some of my bowling club friends. It is quite enjoyable, but at three hours long, I am exhausted by the end of it. Parkies has been very well behaved and I have had zero mobility issues because of it. The current use of the walker is simply because IContinue reading “Ducking and Diving and downright hiding… Episode 6”
I should have left well enough alone… Podcast perils!
Some of you may have noticed that I have started to add Podcasts to my blog. These have been made from start to finish, wholly and solely by me, with no technical assistance whatsoever from anyone other than Youtube vids! So, I decided to take out the music intro and outro on my Podcasts andContinue reading “I should have left well enough alone… Podcast perils!”
Sometimes it’s hard to socialise – Podcast – Episode 5
Sometimes when you are in pain, or things are getting on top of you, it’s not always easy to socialise. For me, too I acknowledge that I don’t really want to go to my previous work and have them see me with a walker and probably immediately think that my Parkinson’s has got worse. IContinue reading “Sometimes it’s hard to socialise – Podcast – Episode 5”
The road to diagnosis… who did you tell? – Podcast Episode 1
This can be a difficult discussion to have.
