I read with interest a post on the Facebook page that I follow from one of the administrators. The writer was commenting on the unique experiences of this condition that we all have. She had put a lot of thought into this post and went on to say that when posting she always writes about what works for her and this can only be from her perspective. She acknowledged that each of us remains an individual and can and will make our own choices of how we deal with Parkinson’s and it’s various symptoms.
The author of this piece provides well thought out content on the Facebook page and I for one appreciate her words of wisdom.
For myself, I have a variety of experience when it comes to Parkinson’s. Both my Mother and my Father had Parkinson’s and therefore I was able to observe and experience through them how it manifested itself for each of them. They were both very different in their presentation and it has served to reinforce what I already know, in that no two journeys are ever the same. In 2020 I joined the ranks of the Parkies community and in 2021 I started this blog.
I have found so much value in the process of writing this blog. It helps me to process what is happening to me and I hope in sharing my journey that I can help others and encourage them to look at what they need as an individual.
My blog is my story. It covers things relating to my Parkinson’s but also other facets of my life as Parkinson’s is not experienced in isolation, but is part of the package that affects my whole being.
My greatest joy in this process is when I get feedback from those following my blog that it has helped them in some way. Hopefully some of my experiences can help them to better understand their own journey and explore what works for them. There is no right or wrong way to be a Person with Parkinson’s (PWP), there is only our own way of being and that is unique to all of us.
If we can share our stories with each other, my hope is that we can pick out from other PWP’s experiences some gems that can help us in our own journey.
May you all continue to live your own truth and know that you are a unique and valuable individual who deserves to be celebrated and heard as you travel along this road.
