Reclaiming my retirement goals…

Today is the day I have been looking forward to for the past eight months. Ever since I had my back surgery in February, my goal has been to get back to bowls.

Someone up there must be smiling down upon me for a change. I had the opportunity to attend two two day coaching sessions and they are today and in a fortnight’s time. Then they are followed by a tournament. It is the ideal way for me to dip my toe back in the water of playing bowls, rather than fronting up on the first day of the season proper and being so nervous in case it doesn’t go well.

I am heading out today, giving myself positive affirmations that I will be OK and that my back will behave. I will have a lovely day with lots of social opportunity – which is something I badly need. I will get to play with my lovely, hardly used purple bowls with the Viking ship on that I had specially made and it will be so good to get back on the green again.

Well, it’s time to go.

I’ll report back…

I am a retired Social Worker having retired in May 2024. I had been a Social Worker for over 20 years and for the sake of my health and wellbeing I chose to retire early. I have some literary projects underway and am enjoying the freedom of no longer working. Working on my projects at my own pace and enjoying my new hobby of lawn bowls is a wonderful thing. No regrets and a new kind of busy in retirement is wonderful.
