Every now and again, I check in with myself and try to analyze whether there are any new symptoms or increase in symptoms already present.
At the moment, I think I am still functioning reasonably well in most areas, but there have been a few things that I have noticed.
- My memory is not as good as it used to be. I notice when trying to remember how to get to the place I want to on the Spotify website, where I now have podcasts, I can struggle a bit to remember exactly where to find and access things. It is not too bad, but sometimes I have to pause and sit for a while and it comes back, but it does concern me sometimes.
- My hands – mostly my right hand – will tap on the screen of my cellphone, just randomly. If I have my phone in my left hand and my right hand is hovering over the screen, it will often do a double tap. This makes it challenging sometimes when looking something up on Google, my right had sometimes chooses for me by double-tapping the screen.
- My speech can be quite hesitant and strange at times, but my husband reckons it’s the morphine. I think we will stick with that explanation at this time.
- My thoughts can get a bit fuzzy. I can start a sentence and forget where I was going to go with it.
Those are the main things at the moment, none of them are necessarily of concern at this time. Also, my presentation is likely to be partially from my morphine, as I am on reasonably high doses. Well, I choose to blame some things on my meds.
Hopefully, when I get my operation and start to wean off morphine, I will get back to normal. I just hope that the medications and the operation when it happens won’t have a long-standing effect on me and worsen my Parkies.
Only time will tell…
