So today I went to play bowls as I have been doing for a few months now. Tuesdays and Saturdays and it’s a great way to get exercise and socialise with others and have a good afternoon out.
It is interesting to note that on Tuesday when I played I had two really good games. Today not so much. On Tuesday someone even called me, “A natural” and seemed quite impressed with the quality of most of my shots.
Well, OMG! Today I don’t think anyone would be impressed! Granted I did a few good bowls, but predominantly I was right off the boil. I couldn’t figure out what had made my play turn to custard, but at least I was consistent I suppose.
Then I stopped to think about it. I have had a bad cold with lots of coughing, sneezing and generally feeling rough. I have not slept well for days. Plus, when I took a step back and tried to analyse why things were not going so well, I noted that my whole body did not seem to flow, it felt stiff and a bit wooden. I wondered then if I need to add an extra one of my medications so that I can function better on the green. I have heard people talk about having “on or off days” and I had not had that experience. Perhaps this was it?
I know I have been feeling that things are progressing and that I need some advice. I need to see my Neurologist to get a handle on where I am at and what I need to do about it.
I shall proceed to ‘rattle some cages’ and be the squeaky wheel and maybe it might get me somewhere!
I certainly hope so!
Hi Sue, So many things you have mentioned I have experienced. I was wondering if you would like to catch up for a coffee and chat? Cheers Jessie

Sorry Sue, I should have mentioned that I met you at the Papanui Club, maybe two months ago. My “off” times are generally around 4ish onwards… On a normal day…. So my routine has changed yet again. This is one of the unwanted gifts that PD gives us …. As we put on a brave smile and move on…. Sometimes you just want to scream out … Give me a break !!! My neurologist is Tim Anderson. PD nurse is Helen Skein.

Sorry. I am going to have to catch up another time. I have had a nasty cough for the last two weeks. I thought it was gone, but had come up again. Wisest to stay home. Catch up another time.
