Parkinson’s is a Pain!

So, I’ve discovered a new symptom that I wasn’t fully aware of previously.

I awoke this morning about 5.00am with excruciating pain radiating down my left leg. It was something I hadn’t experienced before and I wasn’t sure if it was Parkies or not.

As you do, I looked it up online and apparently pain is part of the Parkies package, right from the early stages. So – Oh joy – I’ve found another ‘delightful’ (sarcastic) aspect that I hadn’t considered would be part of this journey. I work in a Neurological ward and asked a couple of people and they confirmed that Neuro pain is very much an unfortunate part of this condition.

So, just another thing to get to grips with. Bring on the pain killers! Hopefully, the pain of this morning will not be too regular a thing though…

I work in health and have been with the same supportive team for over 7 years. They are all aware of my diagnosis and this helps tremendously especially while I get used to the idea of my diagnosis. My parents both had Parkinsons, so I guess my odds were higher than most.
