Keeping up with language and meaning…

Even if we pride ourselves on being a good communicator, there can be a barrier to communication with those not of our era. Much as we might love each other, it can be difficult to understand due to use of words that are in the current time in which we find ourselves. Teenagers and children once they go to school, start picking up ways of speaking and terms that we might not understand. We can then inadvertently use language in a way that we did not intend, especially if trying to use things like emoji’s in emails! Trust me, there are many pitfalls in those. Who knew!?!

Just some thoughts on this topic in the podcast below.

I am a retired Social Worker having retired in May 2024. I had been a Social Worker for over 20 years and for the sake of my health and wellbeing I chose to retire early. I have some literary projects underway and am enjoying the freedom of no longer working. Working on my projects at my own pace and enjoying my new hobby of lawn bowls is a wonderful thing. No regrets and a new kind of busy in retirement is wonderful.
