Boom and Bust…

Over the past 20+ years I have been with my husband, I have had many operations. Finger joint replacements – yes, that is possible – I didn’t know you could until I was offered it. This was because of my arthritis. Four fingers in total. A shoulder operation for a frozen shoulder. Full knee replacement and most recently a back operation. Through each of these there have been rehabilitation exercises to be done and a sense for me that I wanted to get back to my usual strength as soon as I could. For some of those recoveries, I pushed myself to the point where rather than making me progress and return to some slight altered form of normality, I risked undoing all the good. Boom and Bust is something we all need to be aware of, so that we don’t undo the surgeons work should we need their expertise.

Here is my latest podcast. Titled very aptly ‘Boom and Bust’.

I am a retired Social Worker having retired in May 2024. I had been a Social Worker for over 20 years and for the sake of my health and wellbeing I chose to retire early. I have some literary projects underway and am enjoying the freedom of no longer working. Working on my projects at my own pace and enjoying my new hobby of lawn bowls is a wonderful thing. No regrets and a new kind of busy in retirement is wonderful.
