Thinking back to when I first had the first discussion with my husband and moving from a two storey house that we loved to a single storey home. He had at the time thought that it was too early to move, as I was very much in the early stages of my diagnosis. However, it is important to me to be able to participate as much as possible in the important things in our lives and that included timing for moving to a more accessible home for when that is needed.
With little that we can control in this life of Parkinson’s, I felt it was important to me to be able to choose when to sell our previous home. For my husband, although he was initially thinking all this was happening far too early, subsequent events have confirmed that the timing couldn’t have been better!
If you are new to reading my blog, I encourage you to go back and read some of my earlier posts, they may help you. I started writing this blog about a month after diagnosis, so it has four years’ worth of blog posts that people have found useful. I also post some of my poetry from time to time and you might like to have a wee read. I have also done some podcasts reading my poetry.
Here is the podcast about my future proofing thoughts.
