The bucket of joy – not a bucket list – Podcast

Many people seem to come up with a ‘bucket list’ if given news that they have a terminal illness. The list comprises things they want to do before it is too late to do them. To me that is quite a negative thing to do, so I thought I would turn it on it’s head. Instead, I am compiling a ‘bucket of joy’ of happy memories and experiences that I dip into when I need a lift.

I hope you enjoy this podcast.

I’ve made some amendments after a conversation with someone close to me. In listening to the recording, I think maybe I did say ‘bucket of joy’ more than was completely necessary! 🙂

I am a retired Social Worker having retired in May 2024. I had been a Social Worker for over 20 years and for the sake of my health and wellbeing I chose to retire early. I have some literary projects underway and am enjoying the freedom of no longer working. Working on my projects at my own pace and enjoying my new hobby of lawn bowls is a wonderful thing. No regrets and a new kind of busy in retirement is wonderful.
