It’s OK to have a ‘Pity Party’ every now and then!

I was just reading an entry in the Blog of ‘Twitchy Woman’ who I follow. Love the name by the way! She is right on the money as far as I am concerned. When she talks about having a ‘Pity Party’ now and then, I think we are pretty much entitled to it!

Check out her Blog. It’s well worth keeping up with her posts, she has some fine wisdom to share.

I can so identify with her, especially when she talks about having other degenerative conditions. I have arthritis and I have to say, it is the most badly behaved of the two uninvited bedfellows who inhabit my life. I get thoroughly sick of the pain of my knee, which I now know is predominantly because of my arthritis. The meniscus tear apparently was caused by the arthritis. Good old ‘Arthur-itis’ they are well and truly a pain in the knee!

I am now awaiting a response from referral for surgery that my specialist has sent through to the hospital to get me onto the public list for a full knee replacement. Apparently, I tick all the boxes that need to be ticked to qualify for the operation. He has said that for the first two weeks I’ll wish I hadn’t had it done. Yay! At the moment I just want an end to this constant grinding of bone on bone, clicking, locking and generally causing significant pain. So, as for the pain post operatively, as I always say, ‘healing pain is good pain’ because it means that it is a temporary thing and once the healing happens it eventually (fingers crossed) goes away.

I am particularly ticked off because I have absolutely no mobility issues with my Parkinson’s but for the last couple of months I have had to take up using a cane to get around. I do feel a bit ripped off, that Parkies is leaving me to get on with my life pretty much but ‘Arthur’ is a bugger!

Anyway, enough whinging from me. More positive vibes next time I post!

I promise!

I am a retired Social Worker having retired in May 2024. I had been a Social Worker for over 20 years and for the sake of my health and wellbeing I chose to retire early. I have some literary projects underway and am enjoying the freedom of no longer working. Working on my projects at my own pace and enjoying my new hobby of lawn bowls is a wonderful thing. No regrets and a new kind of busy in retirement is wonderful.
