“Oh, how the times have changed!”

How did I get from the girl who loved to party, drink and indulge in things as a teenager, to the sensible (mostly) woman I am now. I often have said, it’s just as well I left Rotorua for other parts, there’s no-one to tell on me and recount my misdemeanors to anyone!

I was watching a television programme with my husband the other day and there was a scene in a nightclub or party where people were crushed together dancing – as best they could – with loud music having a great time. I turned to my husband and said, “In my younger days, I would have thought that was great fun, now I can think of nothing worse!” My introverted husband agreed. In fact, I couldn’t imagine either of us going to such an event these days.

I married young and had my children young and then divorced in my early 30’s. I had my second teenagerhood and did a lot of drinking, smoked a little something and generally indulged in behaviour that I certainly wouldn’t do now. However, it’s funny that people who know about my ever so slightly naughty teenage years, tend to point me towards the benefits of marijuana on Parkinson’s.

Here’s a clip:

I have also done a podcast on “Oh how the times have changed” you might enjoy hearing what I have to say on the subject in more depth.

Here’s the link for that.

I am a retired Social Worker having retired in May 2024. I had been a Social Worker for over 20 years and for the sake of my health and wellbeing I chose to retire early. I have some literary projects underway and am enjoying the freedom of no longer working. Working on my projects at my own pace and enjoying my new hobby of lawn bowls is a wonderful thing. No regrets and a new kind of busy in retirement is wonderful.
