A health stocktake

From time to time, I check in with myself to see if I have noticed any new symptoms, aches, pains or ‘funny stuff’ going on with my body. Did that this morning and have written a podcast about it which I will put below.

Things I have noticed though

  • Voice sometimes a bit breathy if a sentence is too long.
  • Mouth gets ridiculously dry. I say it feels like someone has dried my tongue and mouth with a towel. If the dryness is not addressed and goes towards the back of my throat I gag and feel like I am going to be sick.
  • Sore foot. GP thinks its arthritis.
  • Gummy throat that I have to clear multiple times a day.
  • Fuzzy head sometimes.
  • Can’t always remember how to do things for my podcast and have to sit for a bit to remember.
  • Thinking processes are slower.
  • Sleep is pretty bad. I get off to sleep OK, but wake up about 3am and can’t geet back to sleep.

So, below is the link to get to listen to my podcast if you wish. It has a bit more information on it, including some strategies.

I am a retired Social Worker having retired in May 2024. I had been a Social Worker for over 20 years and for the sake of my health and wellbeing I chose to retire early. I have some literary projects underway and am enjoying the freedom of no longer working. Working on my projects at my own pace and enjoying my new hobby of lawn bowls is a wonderful thing. No regrets and a new kind of busy in retirement is wonderful.
