Now I’m retired
Now I’m retired, I can wake when I like
I can have a nice walk, or go ride my bike
There’s no-one to tell me what to do with my day
No patients, no bosses that I must obey
I can happily rest or do what I choose
Or watch lots of telly even the news
I can go down the club and have fun at bowls
Enjoying my time with some friendly souls
I can spend my time baking whatever I wish
Or maybe try cooking a new kind of dish
I can offer my time and will do it for free
To help raise some money for a charity
I can sit in the sun and read a good book
And not worry now, how long that it took
I can sit in the lounge and crochet a rug
And battle the cat when she gives it a tug
I can drive in my car and stay overnight
On any old day, when the time it feels right
I don’t have to wait till the end of the week
Or ask for time off for the days that I seek
Now I’m retired, I feel rested indeed
No longer working is just what I need!
