www. The World Wide Web… isn’t it wonderful!

For interests’ sake I decided to have a wee peek at what countries people were based in that have been looking at my Blog.

My Followers are from the following countries:

USA, Canada, NZ, UK, Australia, China, Pakistan, France, Romania, Germany, Singapore, Finland, Turkey, Bahamas, Switzerland, Philippines, United Arab Emirates, Portugal, Ireland, France, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Japan, Poland, Spain, South Africa, Kenya, Austria, Qatar, Slovakia, Egypt, Denmark, Sweden and Russia.

When I started this Blog at the beginning of 2021, I had no idea how far this project of mine would reach. I think it’s a wonderful world we live in now, that we can connect with each other over thousands of miles and share our experiences and learn from each other.

Sure, the internet can have its pitfalls and shortcomings, but as a medium to connect people of different cultures, backgrounds and beliefs it is an amazing asset. The ‘www’ or ‘World Wide Web’ is pretty incredible, isn’t it! When the internet first started up and we all made our maiden voyages into the world of emails and internet searching, I’m sure most of us wouldn’t have imagined all that we are now able to do. To connect with people in similar circumstances gives us all the opportunity to learn from each other and support each other. In my parents’ time – as they navigated their own way through their Parkinson’s journey – they did not have such an opportunity.

Even being able to do ‘Dr Google’ searches to find out for ourselves what this condition means for us, is a useful tool. Nothing of course replaces a visit to the GP, or a Neurologist, but it gives us the opportunity to explore and connect with others and share our stories. It gives us the opportunity to learn for ourselves and to express ourselves in things like the Parkinson’s Facebook page that I am a member of. Sharing with each other hints and tips from the perspective of both a PWP and their partners, friends or family can be invaluable.

There are many learning opportunities too with Webinars and presentations from a raft of experts sharing information that we may learn from and that can be shared globally. There are articles about research opportunities, new medications and hints for improving mobility and voice quality to name but a few.

It is certainly worth a look at all that is available to learn from and support us.

I would add another ‘W’ and say that it can indeed be the ‘Wonderful, World Wide Web’ – wwww!

I am a retired Social Worker having retired in May 2024. I had been a Social Worker for over 20 years and for the sake of my health and wellbeing I chose to retire early. I have some literary projects underway and am enjoying the freedom of no longer working. Working on my projects at my own pace and enjoying my new hobby of lawn bowls is a wonderful thing. No regrets and a new kind of busy in retirement is wonderful.
