We are moving ever closer to our return home. We have said a sad farewell to my sister-in-law and her husband and are now in London.
We caught the train to London and found our Hotel and were lucky to get an early check-in. I was shattered when we arrived so was pleased to have the option to dump our heavy bags and go and find some lunch.
One thing we have both learned is that we need to learn to pack less. We had thought we had been reasonably careful not to overpack, but still our bags are heavy. Mine of course is the heaviest! As we have been fortunate to be able to do washing we could have brought a lot less with us. There are lots of clothing items that we haven’t worn, so could definitely cut back. Lugging heavy cases is exhausting and I can see that we need to reduce what we bring.
We got to our Hotel and went out for lunch. I suggested we have a look around and see where the theatre is that we are going to tonight. However, I found that after lunch I suddenly felt very tired. I told my husband I suddenly didn’t have the energy to walk around and needed to go back to the Hotel and rest. He rightfully pointed out that it was my idea to go find the theatre, but like I said to him sometimes I need to listen to my body and rest.
So here I am now lying on my bed in the Hotel having a rest so I am up to going out tonight. I think I sometimes underestimate how much a busy day saps my energy. Parkies, Arthur (itis) and being overweight don’t help. Couple that with an unusually hot Spring in the UK and I suppose it is not surprising I am a bit shattered!
I will endeavour to be kind to myself and pace myself over the next few days. Soon we will be home, but there is still a little time to make some more memories before we leave.
I am feeling in ‘homing pigeon’ mode, but there are a few more things to do before these two pigeons are home to roost!
