The sickest I’ve been in years…

Here I am at home at the start of another week of feeling very unwell. Since last Wednesday, I have been feeling increasingly unwell. I have had headaches, sore throat, vomitting, constant nausea, chronic cough, little or no sleep, extreme fatique and so weak, I hardly have the energy for anything.

I have not left our property since Wednesday last week. I wouldn’t trust myself to drive at the moment for one thing. However, my husband had to go to Mitre 10 this morning and I thought I would tag along for the ride to get out of the house. I can’t believe just how exhausting it was to walk around the store for about 10 minutes. I felt a bit dizzy and was walking so slowly and deliberately that I felt like I hardly had the energy to put one foot in front of the other.

I have been to my doctor and he tested for COVID and fortunately the results were negative. However, I do have pneumonia, so it’s not surprising my energy reserves are significantly depleted. I’m hoping that the antibiotics will kick in soon and my body will recover, so that I can get back to work next week.

In the interim, there is a permanent dent in the couch where I have been spending my time blobbing out and binge watching ‘Grace and Frankie’ on Netflix!

Hopefully, I will soon be back to some semblance of ‘normality’ – whatever that looks like – and I can shake off the extreme lethargy I feel.

I work in health and have been with the same supportive team for over 7 years. They are all aware of my diagnosis and this helps tremendously especially while I get used to the idea of my diagnosis. My parents both had Parkinsons, so I guess my odds were higher than most.

  1. Really sorry that you are feeling so poorly and that there’s nothing I can say or do to make it any better. Take care of yourself and rest as much as you can. ❤️❤️
