Your glowing screen offends me…

We had been looking forward to a concert by The Proclaimers and attended it last night. The concert was incredible, with lots of memorable songs that we all knew and some new ones from their latest album. However, there was one thing that really got on my nerves! Why is it that people think its OK/necessary/important that they be constantly on their phone during a concert? What is the point of being there if you are going to constantly check your phone, your Facebook, Twitter, whatever the heck you are doing on the thing? Sitting next to someone with the glow of their phone constantly intruding on your vision is annoying to say the least. At the end of the show, I did point that out to her, probably not in the nicest way, but hey, I was trying to enjoy a show I had been looking forward to for ages. No amount of dirty looks during the show had any effect!

So, I came home and wrote this poem…

Your glowing screen offends me

Your glowing screen offends me
Please put away your phone

Your glowing screen offends me
Just leave the thing alone

Your glowing screen offends me
Annoying little female

Your glowing screen offends me
Must you check your email?

Your glowing screen offends me
You’re checking Facebook too

Your glowing screen offends me
What a thing to do!

Your glowing screen offends me
I’m here to see a show

Your glowing screen offends me
Distracted by it’s glow

Your glowing screen offends me
I wonder why you’re here

Your glowing screen offends me
You seem so unaware

Your glowing screen offends me
I shouldn’t have to say

Your glowing screen offends me
Please put the thing away

Your glowing screen offends me
It really isn’t funny

Your glowing screen offends me
You could have saved your money

Your glowing screen offends me
The phone is more your taste

Your glowing screen offends me
To be here is a waste

Your glowing screen offends me
I wish you’d go away

Your glowing screen offends me
I’m here to see them play

Your glowing screen offends me
The concert though was fun

Your glowing screen offends me
And now that it is done

Your glowing screen offends me
And so I then told you

Your glowing screen offends me
You haven’t got a clue

Your glowing screen offends me
Next time that you attend

Your glowing screen offends me
Don’t touch it till the end!!!

I work in health and have been with the same supportive team for over 7 years. They are all aware of my diagnosis and this helps tremendously especially while I get used to the idea of my diagnosis. My parents both had Parkinsons, so I guess my odds were higher than most.
