I’m doing well

I had an appointment with the Parkinson’s/Neurological Nurse this week. She works closely with my Neurologist and I had had a change of medication recently and he asked her to check how things are going.

It was a very positive appointment and she talked through if I had noticed any improvement or had any issues since the new medication was introduced. I was happy to report that I have had positive effects from the new medications and others had noticed more expression and animation. I feel that I have more energy and feel able to do lots of hard work in the garden.

She tested me with a few small physical tasks and I am pleased to report that she says that there is absolutely no sign of any Parkinson’s on my right side. So, all in all great news that I have not progressed much since diagnosis nearly 16 months ago. It’s nice to know though that I have specialist support and advice any time I need it, but for now I shall just keep taking the meds, doing my exercises, riding my bike and enjoying life!

I am a retired Social Worker having retired in May 2024. I had been a Social Worker for over 20 years and for the sake of my health and wellbeing I chose to retire early. I have some literary projects underway and am enjoying the freedom of no longer working. Working on my projects at my own pace and enjoying my new hobby of lawn bowls is a wonderful thing. No regrets and a new kind of busy in retirement is wonderful.
