Fresh Start

Today is the first morning getting up to do my exercises. I got up extra early as I wasn’t sure how I would find figuring out the exercises for myself. All in all, it’s not so bad, got through the exercises quicker than I thought – maybe I should slow them down?

One of the exercises we chose is typing – which is useful for this Blog – as I find that I have a tendency to type double letters when I am typing. Hitting the keys harder and with more purpose seems to help, so this is good practice.

The exercises are designed to encourage big movements, as Parkies tries to reduce us to smaller movements, the key is to exaggerate the movement to combat this tendency. Taking bigger steps when walking – which feels unnatural – but apparently to onlookers looks normal, is another way to combat the bodies new inclination to act ‘small’ so I am to challenge my body to be ‘big’ in it’s movements.

So Day 1. Hello, I’m here and I’m challenging you Parkies, I will be big and I will fight your efforts to reduce me to being small!

I am a retired Social Worker having retired in May 2024. I had been a Social Worker for over 20 years and for the sake of my health and wellbeing I chose to retire early. I have some literary projects underway and am enjoying the freedom of no longer working. Working on my projects at my own pace and enjoying my new hobby of lawn bowls is a wonderful thing. No regrets and a new kind of busy in retirement is wonderful.
