Well, let’s just chalk one up to add to Sue’s unwise choices in purchasing products online. Usually, I am pretty good, but I bought this nail kit that was supposed to be quick and easy and it proved to be anything but. I already had one type of home kit which I hadn’t used in a while, but this sounded on the surface of it to be easier. I had known that a workmate used a nail powder type kit and she was no slug, so thought it would be safe to buy.
Another factor in wanting to do my nails has been that I have lurched from a total knee replacement onto my back operation and because of this, I have not been able to have painted nails for about a year.
Now was the time to treat myself!
Here’s the story…
First thing, you get the kit and get out the instruction book. I started at Step No.1 – as you do – and then working my way through on what I was to discover was just the first of many pages of instructions. In fact, there were 10 steps in all and a lot of faffing about! The nails had to be dipped into little pottles of powder, which of course meant the sparkly stuff spilled over several times, necessitating attempts to clean up. Luckily I had put everything on an old pillow slip, so that could be shaken out. It looked like tinkerbell and the fairy folk had had a brawl and sprinkled fairy dust all over the place!
Now, the story gets even worse.
Looking at my nails, they are far from glamorous! So, then I decided ‘bugger this’ and went to find the ‘remove’ that comes with the kit. I have never read such ludicrous instructions in my life.
See below:
“First gently file down the top layers to help the solution soak through the powder. Stay well away from your natural nail underneath. Fill a snap lock bag with some remove and some rolled up paper towel. Next fill a bowl with some raw rice and a little bit of water and heat in the microwave. You can use hot water instead of hot rice if you prefer. Place your hands inside the bag and the bag inside the bowl and zip up the bag tight. The heat will allow for the process to be much faster. Keep your hands fully submerged for 10-15 minutes before gently rubbing the powder off. To avoid damaging the nail, do not forcefully scrape or scratch off the colour“
Needless to say, the product is going to be returned and a refund applied for. Email has been sent to the company who offered me an extended period of another 30 days to try to get things right! If the process to put the nail powder on was bad enough, the removal is a circus!
Hands in zip log bags and hot rice!
I think not!
Feels like one of those, ‘I should have known better’ moments.
Oh well, you live and learn…
