Just a change of pace from the serious stuff of late, so I was moved to write a new poem. I am reading it in the podcast for those of you who enjoy hearing them read, but for those who would rather hear it with their own voice, I have shared the words below:
I’ll never have to wear pantihose
Or maybe a bra, well anything goes
Go where I want, just jump in my car
Was joking before, I will wear a bra!
And in the morning when I wakeup
Look in the mirror, no need for makeup
Don’t have wear any fancy dance dresses
Or get out the dryer, to dry off my tresses
Retirement’s great, it’s really fantastic
Relaxed in my comfy pants with elastic
Just go to bed, no need for alarms
Being retired does have it’s charms
No boss to tell when I’m going away
Or if I have leave, or docking my pay
And if I get weary I’ll just have a sleep
For 2-3 hours, you won’t hear a peep
Don’t have a lunch hour it can be more
Have a long lunch, for hours I’m sure
Go for a coffee, when I need a lift
No breaks aren’t timed, no longer on shift
No longer working the rest of my life
Happily Nanna, Mum and a wife
Thought when it came that I would be sad
Retirement’s great more time to be had
For time with my hubby and rest of my kin
It’s just up to me, to fit it all in
