Feeling grateful

Today we are in our favourite place Kaikoura. A place that has had a place in our hearts since we first met. A place of many beautiful memories. A place to come to rejuvenate body and soul.

This trip has been a bit different from our normal pattern in this place. We are staying in our favourite accommodation with a view of snow capped mountains. A view of sparkling seas and blue sky days.

I am sitting writing this while my husband has been walking the Kaikoura Peninsula walk. The walk that we usually do together but at the moment while waiting for my knee operation I can’t manage.

So why am I grateful?

I am grateful to be in a relationship where we give each other space to do things on our own without guilt.

I am grateful for the warmth of the sun, listening to soft music and reading and just enjoying some time to breathe.

I am grateful that the future is starting to look bright again and I will soon be walking with my husband again.

I am grateful that we are here together and find ways to be together and to be apart for a while but at peace.

Life is too short to not appreciate what we do have.

Today I am grateful for all that I have and all that we are as a couple.

Take time in this world to be grateful..

I am a retired Social Worker having retired in May 2024. I had been a Social Worker for over 20 years and for the sake of my health and wellbeing I chose to retire early. I have some literary projects underway and am enjoying the freedom of no longer working. Working on my projects at my own pace and enjoying my new hobby of lawn bowls is a wonderful thing. No regrets and a new kind of busy in retirement is wonderful.
