We have been walking around China Town looking at the various wares and checking out where to have dinner.
Not long after getting to China Town I noticed that my body felt very heavy. My legs felt like they didn’t quite want to do what I wanted them to. I also started to feel lightheaded. I think it was a combination of a number of things, such as:
1. Jet lag
2. Medications being out of sync.
3. Heat.
4. Likely dehydration from the heat.
After sitting down and having dinner, I started to recover. I had a glass of coke and perhaps the sugar gave me a boost. I usually have sugar free. I also took my dinner meds, so they probably helped as well. By the time we finished dinner I was feeling much more like my normal self.
We went for a bit of a walk after dinner and as it was hot I bought a cheap fold up fan. As I am currently using my right hand to use my walking stick due to my knee injury, I had to use the fan in my left hand.
For me my Parkies side is my left side. Perhaps it might not surprise others, but it surprised me how difficult it was to use the fan on my Parkies side! I was completely uncoordinated! My husband reminded me of the tests my neurologist had got me to do that was one of the things that illustrated my Parkinson’s diagnosis.
It probably didn’t help that I was walking, using a walking stick, talking and trying to use the fan! Far too much multi-tasking at once! It was a bit of an epic fail I’m afraid!
New and interesting affects of this condition are highlighted along this journey of ours. Sometimes it is little things like trying to use the fan on my Parkies side that remind me that I am a PWP or Person with Parkinson’s!
I hope that your awkwardness improves
